Overview

This is an 18-day itinerary for a tour of Assam, the “hidden jewel” of Northeast India. The tour starts in Delhi, with a flight to Guwahati. After arriving in Guwahati, travelers will visit the Kamakhya Temple and charter a ferry to Umananda Temple. Then, they will drive to Shillong, the capital of Meghalaya, and visit the Wards Lake and Butterfly Museum. On the fourth day, travelers will take a day trip to Cherrapunjee, which includes visiting the Shillong Peak, Catholic Church, and various attractions in Cherrapunjee like the Mawsmai caves, seven sisters’ falls, and Elephanta Falls.

On the fifth day, the tour goes to Mawlynnong, which is known as the cleanest village in Asia. Travelers will take a trek to the living root bridge and see natural balancing rocks. The next day, the tour goes to Kaziranga National Park for an elephant and jeep safari. The itinerary includes two days in Kaziranga for safari tours and a visit to a tea production unit.

On the ninth day, the tour goes to Bomdila, with a stop at the Tipi orchid center. In Bomdila, travelers can visit the Craft center, Monasteries, and Ethnographic Museum. The next day, travelers will drive to Tawang, with stops at Sela Pass, Unarming Falls, and Jaswant Garh. The tour includes a visit to the Tawang Monastery, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the Urgelling Monastery, the birthplace of the 6th Dalai Lama.

The tour ends with a drive back to Guwahati on the 16th day and a flight back to Delhi on the 17th day. The last day is for departure from Delhi. Overall, this itinerary includes a mix of cultural, historical, and natural attractions in Assam and the surrounding areas.

Day 1 : Delhi

Fly from your country to New Delhi, upon arrival you will be greeted and assisted by our
company representative, transfer to Hotel for overnight stay.

Day 2 : Delhi – Guwahati ( by flight )

After breakfast, you will be transferred to Delhi airport to board a flight for Guwahati, arrive, and transfer to Hotel. After changing and washing leave to visit the Kalashetra - a unique place
where the life and culture of Assamese people are beautifully depicted. Thereafter visit the
Basistha Ashram, Science Museum Evening enjoy the River cruise on the mighty River
The Brahmaputra. Night, stay in Guwahati.

Day 3 : Guwahati – Shillong (110 Kks, 03 hours )

Today after Breakfast transfer to Kamakhya Temple. It is suggested to obtain a special
pass to avoid waiting time. There after charter a ferry to Umananda Temple - the famous
Shiva Temple situated on the Peacock Island, known as the smallest Island on Earth. Later drive
to Shillong. At Shillong visit the Wards LakeThis century old picturesque (horseshoe-shaped)
artificial lake lying beneath the Raj Bhavan (Governor's Residence) is located at the heart of the city and is extremely popular for its garden walks and boating. The lake is chock-full of fish it's a common sight to see tourists feeding fish from the bridge, Butterfly Museum-One of the most amusing sights even for an adult is to watch a delicate little butterfly land on hands and perform a balancing jig before it takes off again to regale another bystander. Return to Hotel for overnight stay.

Day 4 : Shillong- Day trip to Cherrapunjee

After breakfast at the hotel full day trip to Cherrapunjee (56kms/2hrs) – this is a very scenic drive enabling one to see the cloud covered hills and the deep gorges. On way to Cherrapunjee visit the Shillong Peak. The Shillong peak stands at a whopping 2000 mtr above sea level. The peak dedicated to the city is also the highest point in the state. An ideal picnic spot, the Shillong Peak offer breathtaking bird's eye view of the city and the scattered villages around the Peak. Later visit the Catholic Church. At Cherrapunjee visit the Mawsmai caves, seven sisters’ falls, Eco Park, Elephanta Falls etc. Return to Shillong for overnight stay.

 
Day 5 : Shillong to Asia’s cleanest village Mawlynnong (79 Km/2 Hours)

After early breakfast drive to Mawlynnong- The cleanest village in Asia. Mawlynnong Village located in the East Khasi Hills of Meghalaya, also referred as ‘God’s own garden’ has won the acclaim of being the cleanest village in Asia in 2003. It is a community based eco-tourism initiative. The community has made collective effort to maintain the ambience of a clean village. The village offers picturesque natural beauty, a trek to the living Root Bridge at a neighboring village Riwai. The village also offers a sight of natural balancing rock, a strange natural phenomenon of a boulder balancing on another rock. Evening come back to Shillong for overnnight, stay in Shillong.

Day 6 : Shillong - Kaziranga (330 Km/ 6 Hours)

Today after Breakfast visits the famous Don- Bosco Museum and the Catholic Church and there after drive to Kaziranga National Park. After Lunch visit the nearby tribal villages and the Tea Estates. overnight stay in Kaziranga.

Day 7 : Kaziranga - Elephant and Jeep Safari.

Early morning wake call to get ready for the Elephant Safari. First call at 5 Am and second at 530 Am. You can select any of the option as per your convenience. After breakfast visit the Tea production unit. Post lunch move out for jeep safari. Night, stay in Kaziranga.

Day 9 : Kaziranga - Bomdila: (210 km/ 5 Hours) :

Today after Breakfast drive to Bomdila. En-route visit Tipi orchid center. Here you can visit the orchid Museum. Later drive to Bomdila After your arrival, check in to your Hotel. At Bomdila visit the Craft center, Monasteries, Ethnographic Museum, Emporium etc. On way watch various snow clad mountain peaks, including a bird’s eye view of Kangto and Gorichen Peaks of the state. Night, stay in Bomdila.

Day 10 : Bomdila- Tawang : (250 Km/ 6 Hours):

After breakfast drive to Tawang. On the way to Tawang you can visit to Sela Pass. .Sela Pass is the world’s second highest motor able pass at 4243 mts with high altitude serene crystal blue water natural lake. Here visit Unarming Falls (12 km from Sella Pass) & Jaswant Garh (4 km from Nuranang) .Nuranang falls is the home to Cold water snow and rainbow Fish Hatchery, Jaswant Garh a memorial for Veer Jaswant Singh of the 4thGarhwal Rifles. Jaswant Singh PVC of the Indian Army who single-handedly repulsed a Chinese
attack but fell bravely defending his position. Check in to your hotel & rest of the day.

Day 11 : Tawang Sightseeing:

Today after Breakfast visit the legendary 400 year-old monastery at Tawang. The Tawang monastery was founded by the Merak Lama Lodre Gyatso in 1681 in accordance to the wishes of the 5th Dalai Lama, Nagwang Lobsang Gyatso, and has an interesting legend surrounding its name, which means "Chosen by Horse". It also houses Also visit Urgelling Monastery, situated 5 km to the south of Tawang Township. Night, stay in Tawang

Day 12 : Tawang – Dirang (198 Km/ 5 Hours)

After Breakfast check out and drive to Dirang. On way visit the Apple Orchards and the Yak Breeding Farms. At Dirang visit the famous Hot- Water Stream which has many medicinal values. Evening visit the Kiwi Farms built single handedly by a Lady. Overnight in Dirang

Day 13 : Dirang- Nameri (170 km/ 4 Hours):

Today after Breakfast drive to Nameri National Park. Nameri is Famous for Clouded Leopard, Hog Deer, Birds, Trekking, Angling, Rafting etc. After reaching Nameri, check in to your Hotel. After fresh n up walk along the River Bhoroli. Nigh, stay in Nameri.

Day 14 : Nameri - Kohima:

Today after Breakfast, enjoy the trekking along the Rover Bhoroli. Later check out and drive to Kohima: the capital of Nagaland.On way enjoys the natural beauty, the cloud covered Mountains, and the beautiful structured Naga Houses. After fresh n up visit the Kohima War Cemetery dedicated to the valiant soldiers who sacrifice their lives during World War II... Night, stay in Kohima

Day 15 : Kohima - Sightseeing:

Today after Breakfast visit the Khonoma Village (20 Km from Kohima). After Lunch visit the Khisama village. Here you can visit the famous war museum of World War 2. Night, stay in Kohima.

 
Day 16 : Kohima - Imphal Sightseeing: (140 Km / 3 Hours)

Today after Breakfast visit the Nagaland Sate Museum where you can see the beautiful handicrafts, jewelers, Naga Masks of various Naga Tribes. The main attraction of this Museum is the ceremonial Drum which is very large and beautiful. Later drive to Imphal.-the capital city of Manipur. Ruled by a single dynasty from the 33 AD to 1959, this place is famous for the sacrifices during World War 2. Night, stay in Imphal.

Day 17 : Imphal- Moreh- Imphal: (87Km/2Hours)

Today after breakfast visit the Kangla Fort and there after drive to Loktak Lake- the largest fresh water lake in Asia. Here you can see the floating Islands. Later drive to Moreh: This is a busy market town on the Indo-Myanmar border, located at a distance of 110 Kms from Imphal. This place holds importance for the visiting tourists not only for being a border town but also for providing a unique opportunity to experience the different cultures, lifestyles of Myanmar through its border town at Tamu which is only 5 Kms away from here. If time allows than also visit Churachandpur: 60 Kms from Imphal and is one of the most beautiful places for sightseeing and holidaying. It is a bustling tribal town and district headquarter where products of arts and crafts of the area are available in the local
market. Night, stay in the Hotel in Imphal.

Day 18 : Imphal Airport

Today after breakfast you will be transfer to Imphal airport to board flight back to
Delhi, arrive & board your next flight back to your country.
